Winnipeg Transit

Winnipeg Transit definitely has some pros and cons. Some of the cons that stand out for me are Transit fare, bus schedules and the limitation of buses. Also, here’s a few positive reasons why riding on a transit bus can be beneficial. A lot of people including myself believe that paying for transit fair can be pricey, especially when you have children over the age of five. When you’re going from one place to another, it can be pricey. I think another problem  is bus schedules. For example, in the area that I live in, there are only a selected number of buses that run. After 6 p.m. some buses in that area stop running and it’s hard when you have places to be and so on. Also when you’re heading home from wherever and there are no buses running, your only option is to walk. So you can see why these are problems for me. My last negative opinion about Winnipeg Transit is the limitation of buses. What really annoys me, is the limitation of buses running. I find when I’m on my way to and from school during rush hour when yI’m traveling on the transit buses, they can get so packed to the point there is not enough room for people who want to board the bus. I think they need to put more buses out there for the buses that are most popular for passengers to be riding in during the morning and afternoons.

On the other side, there are definitely some benefits to traveling on transit buses. Here are a few. If you’re a student or working you can get a reduced monthly bus pass. You can also claim a full year of receipts on your taxes from riding the Winnipeg transit. So definitely that can be beneficial financially. Also traveling on Winnipeg transit can also be beneficial to the environment, less fuel is being used from vehicles. Also people would be breathing in less toxins. There would be less wear and tear on the road. So overall Winnipeg transit can definitely have some negative and positive aspects to it. Whether you take it in a good or bad way, Winnipeg transit will always be there, the only way our voice’s will be heard regarding these issues is if we do something about it, instead of just talking about it.

Yeah I think that transit has some changes to make also. Service needs to be consistant and certain routes are more popular..so put more buses on that route. Children under 8 should be free, not under 5. People with fixed incomes and stuff should be quilified for cheaper fares and passes.

The other day i woke up late for school and i rushed out the door and left my wallet back in my room. Normally i have no problem trying to get on the bus without fare by telling the bus driver my situation and normally i never have a problem but sometimes out of the blue i won’t have any luck and i’ll get a stubbornly ignorant bus driver that has no sympathy or a care in the world. No matter what, the bus driver in this situation always feels the necessary need to go ahead and be a drain of positive energy and be the captain of buzz killington. But anyways i don’t look like the most trustworthy or approachable person on the planet but i feel that the ignorance given to me from a bus driver that thinks that he or she knows it all and looks and sometime says to me that i got an excuse just like the rest of you… and i sit here wondering to myself is that a racial thing or a average teenager thing, or is it just straight up ignorant? i know for sure people that hate their jobs and sometime them selves should forfeit their position with serving the public and go flip some burgers…lol

Well, with an increase on bus fare, I also think they should extend the time available on the transfers.

I think transit is doing a good job making inprovements to the transit system. They have introduced the new bus texting where you text them the stop number and they send you the schedule. They have also introduced electronic real time GPS shcedules at major bus stops. I also like how they have the air conditioned buses in the summer.

It’s good to know about what is beneficial about transit. Many people believe that the transit has many problems, but they didn’t see the other way. People can get many opportunity from transit. First at all, it’s very cheap to use public transit then your own car because you don’t need to pay any ather bill except a bus ticket. But many people do not think about it and they are complaining about expenses. Secondly, the system of transit schedules are organized very well. Every 15 minutes buses are running, so we need to apreciate those who made that great system. Also I like to mention about how wonderful people with disability and old age people have been served.

I’m am immigrant from China. Once I moved to Winnipeg I found Winnipeg Transit is far more better than in China. In China, to find seat on bus is impossible, unless you catch one at the first bus station. Also, it always drove me crazy when you were on the bus. Always crowded! The very important thing was, buses in China don’t have timetables and the bus drivers were very rude. Here in Winnipeg, the bus drivers are very kind, and we have timetables on each bus line, so we could make plans for our trip.
