What Makes A Good Role Model?
Lets face it! We all make mistakes but what makes the difference is what we learn and take from each experience. Last November I got the courage to run for the title of Miss Club 200 2009-2010. I never thought in a million years I would win but in fact did. I get to host shows on Fridays as well as represent the gay community of Winnipeg at events across Canada till next November. One of the biggest faults I have encountered while working with other title holders is how ignorant some can be. A lot think they are better than others but one thing I can’t get over is most forget why they are there in the first place! Most forget that they’re there to represent the people. I never judge on how you look, how you dress, or even who you hang out with! I never once thought I was better than anyone mostly because I know how it feels when someone brings you down for something you can’t change.
So what makes a good role model? A role model is different for everyone but I know what a role model isn’t and that’s someone who, like some of the people I work with, think they are better than others. I’m still young and learning but one day I hope the younger generations can look up to me and say wow she’s doing a good job! This title may only last a year but my work for the Transgender Community will never stop!

I agree, some people can be ignorant and have such big ego problems.
Clearly some people don’t have respect for others when it comes to certain situations. My theory behind my opinion is that they weren’t clearly
brought up in front of a great group of people either. The younger generation sees our generation, and learn and follow from our actions based on our behaviors, choice of life style, and the respect we give others. I think it impacts most of the younger audience, but not always, because there are some things in my personal life I can relate to, but it’s a long story.
