What About The City’s Transit System?

The transit system in Winnipeg has to be the worst system in Canada because of the schedule they have to keep. I tried the transit systems in Calgary, Edmonton, British Columbia, Ontario,  P.E.I  and even in Newfoundland. All these systems work better than our system does, so let’s fix this problem before it gets to the point that it’s too late to fix. Even the transit system in Summerside runs much better than our system, and it’s so much smaller than our city.

Here you catch your bus to go to wherever your destination is, and then you have to wait a half hour for your next bus. The city should go ahead and bring back the streetcars , which in my opinion would be much better and faster. This system works great in Calgary, and in other cities in our country, so why doesn ‘t the city of Winnipeg see that this system works great? I believe this would save the city money so they could repair the city’s streets and help the homeless. Also when they change drivers they take so long to change, they make you wait so long that you miss your next bus connection. I just wish the city council would see this system doesn’t work, and fix this problem.

The transit system will always be around for many years to come. Winnipeg transit is always looking to hire bus drivers on the many routes they run. A great idea is for people that frequently use the system to buy a cellphone to call transit for bus arrivals.

YA, I got my license. I hate the buses and I’m going to park in a snow route and I am not going to move. I can’t stand the buses I have no respect for them and I am not going to pay for the parking ticket I’ll get for it ha-ha.

The city is not going to do anything about it because Winnipeg is too poor. I hate how only bus number 11 arrives at your stop every ten minutes, unlike bus eighteen Leila That bus comes every half hour to forty-five minutes and it stops running at nine p.m. This is the bus that goes in front of my other place that I was taking when I was younger. Back then the bus eighteen River Bend and Jefferson do the same thing but they run till two a.m. Buses should run twenty-four seven and arrive every ten minutes then you would arrive at your destination faster. Take work for example; you would have less chance of getting fired for being late. On weekends when people go to the bar or a party drinking there would be another way of getting home rather than just the taxi or a friend driving you home….and it would also be cheaper then taking a taxi home.

My suggestion is to make a monorail/skytrain like what Vancouver has. In Winnipeg if we had a monorail it should go from downtown …Let’s start with north to south it should go from downtown up to like Garden City Mall then turn to Main St. then come back to downtown and then go to St Vital Mall then to like Fort Garry area …like where Coyotes is or the U of M then back to downtown. East to west it should go from like downtown all the way to Murdoch High School (Transcona) turn towards the Mint which is down Ladge-moe-dee-ay (how ever you spell that street name) then back to downtown and go all the way down Portage to the the end of the city (St James) about a couple miles away from the Perimeter which is close to the Red River Ex carnival that goes on in June, then of course back to downtown or some kind of direction like that.

That’s my point of view for this ugly poor city and after you get off the monorail/skytrain you would take the bus in the neighborhood that would get you more closer to your destination if it’s too far to walk still.

Yes I agree with you. The Transit service in Winnipeg sucks. It is even more worse when you miss a bus and have to wait a ridiculous 45 minutes for another bus to come. To top it of it makes it even more horrible in the winter when your standing and waiting in close to -40 degrees. And it’s sad having to see people with their little children freezing. It would be so wonderful if buses would come at least every 10-15 minutes. The only upside about the transit service is they give you the ability to call for your bus times.
