I too, would like to thank Wpg adult ed for the supportive teachers and sense of serious committment it takes in order to get somewhere. I agree that the teachers did not give up on their students. It was through those early maths and science courses I learned how to “do what I had to do….. in order to get it done.”
In high school I liked music and art and assumed I did not have “an aptitude” to do science and maths. When I got a divorce at age 30, I decided to be a nurse but it was a lot of work …years later I am finally graduating from the Faculty of Nursing this upcoming spring with a Bachelor’s Degree.
I was a single mom and my kids remember how I would read to them the chemistry periodic table as if it was a bedtime story. Like so many others, I was always either doing homework or working at a minimum paying job because I had to support us.
Although my education has been a path with many obstacles, my daughter was inspired to become a lawyer and she is also graduating this spring with me but from the faculty of Law .
I truly believe that our story would be very different had it not been for the skills of tenacity I learned at Wpg Adult Ed. Finally, I am finding that as a nurse my favorite patients are the ones that others have given up on…
