Gangs and their effect on our city
I sincerely hope that Sam Katz opens his eyes and sees just how bad the gangs are effecting our city. Winnipeg is getting a bad rap for it’s high crime rate and living in the Central area I have no choice but to have witnessed some unacceptable behaviors.
Gangs contribute to drugs, violence and prostitution. The city focuses on the crime when it happens instead of trying to avoid or lessen the chance of a crime involving in things such as gangs. It seems as though the gangs are controlling the city instead of the city officials controlling the gangs. Illegal activities will always occur but helping keep youths active may in the end help teens become well behaved citizens which may help slow down the gang involvement.

Hi Crystal,
I like your suggestion to keep young people active in healthy activities so they won’t turn to gangs. That is at least part of the solution. How do we go about restraining or changing those that are already in gangs?

I agree that youths should be kept busy, but its also when they are really young…My daughter had a 5 year old friend..that is awlays out by herself daily after daycare her mother just says go…it scares me and worries me that this young child is out on the streets alone, shes always showed behaviours that arent acceptable, but if I were to say something to the mother I could get hit you never know. I do want to call CFS but I dont as sometimes that worse, my only option right now is it voice my concerns to the daycare. I see way to many young children walking around on their own….when their child gets kidnapped, murdered, or hit by a car..they wont stop to think to themselfs..maybe I should have been out there watching my child.
The city should focus on opening up more community centers to children of all ages and educating these parents, and monitoring them…if your to freaking lazy to get off your butt to watch your child play outside..dont let them go outside..or better yet..dont have kids…I pray for the children that dont have caring parents
