Free Winnipeg Careers Event

Ever wonder about being a paramedic?  Interested in city planning and development?  Could you see yourself working with animals?  Finally, want to live out these careers in Winnipeg?  Find out about these and MORE at The City of Winnipeg Career Symposium – October 16, 2012 from 12 – 7 p.m. at the Winnipeg Convention Centre 3rd floor, 375 York Avenue.  Everyone is welcome to attend this FREE event.

The goal of the Career Symposium is to create awareness of the many different careers at the City of Winnipeg. There will be interactive displays and employees to answer questions about careers.  There will also be information on how, where and when to apply for employment opportunities with the City of Winnipeg.

You may find yourself in one of the Winnipeg careers when you are done high school!  Explore now!

If you are interested in this there is FREE TRANSPORTATION to this event.  You must see Sam, the Career Intern in the library office!  A bus will transport interested students on Oct.16th at (time) and return…

Grad News

Grad Breakfast – Friday, June 22th, 2012 – A.M.

 There is a mandatory graduation breakfast that will be held in the cafeteria at 10:00 a.m.   Breakfast is $3.00 and tickets can be purchased from Mr. Stargardter or Ms McDonald.  After the breakfast we will have a graduation rehearsal.  We should be completed by 12:00 p.m.

* We are inviting grads to write a short message on the reverse of your name-card.  This could be a quote, a thank you to special people, or a message to your fellow graduates. The message will be read after your name is announced and while you are walking across the stage to receive your diploma.  

DINNER & DANCE – Friday, June 22th, 2012

  • $75.00 per ticket

Before purchasing a ticket – a contract must be picked up from Ms Lamont (217) and return signed by June 6th.

 Arrival 6:00-7:00 p.m.; Dinner served 7:00 p.m.  Dance 8:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.  Staff will be assisting. No bags, backpacks or coats, or gym bags will be permitted in the banquet hall.  I.D. required for alcoholic beverage purchases and consumption.  Soft drinks available free of charge.  It is recommended that you be transported to and from the event.    Do not drive if you intend to drink!  Groups using their own vehicle must have a designated driver.

CONVOCATION CEREMONIESWEDNESDAY, JUNE 27TH, 2012

PANTAGES PLAYHOUSE THEATRE

180 MARKET (AT MAIN STREET)  – 9:30 a.m. SHARP!

ProcedureCaps & gowns will be distributed from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.  Plan to arrive early  and take pictures with family and friends. (Reminder that students attending convocation must wear a cap and gown. See Mr. Notorianni (Room 128) immediately if you have not made these arrangements). Graduates will be lined up in alphabetical order for the entry march at 9:00 a.m.  Once lined up you will receive a card* with your name on it; hand this card to the teacher as you go onto the stage to receive your diploma. 

Dress:  Please do not wear shorts under the grad gown. Try not to wear runners – this is a very special occasion – let’s treat it with the respect it deserves.

Photograph:  Once you have received your diploma a  5 x 7 photograph will be taken.  (Price of photograph is included in the purchase of your dinner and dance ticket .)  Photos will be mailed to your home address.

After the Ceremony:  Return the gowns—hang them on the hangers and hand them in before you leave the building.  Lost or damaged gowns will cost $75.00 – look after them.  A small reception with refreshments will be held immediately after the ceremony at Pantages.

Graduate News

  • May 8th meeting in the theatre for all potential graduates. We will discuss caps and gowns, dinner and dance tickets, convocation and grad breakfast/rehearsal. 10:15 a.m. all must attend. Remind your fellow graduates!!!!!
  • Please get in your purple Graduating Student’s information sheet in to Mr. Stargardter if you wish to be considered for St. John’s Scholarships. 
  • Manitoba Student Aid presentation May 7th in room 324 at lunch.  This is money information that you need to hear. 
  • Future University of Winnipeg students. Important information meeting May 23rd 1:30 p.m. in the theatre

Grade 12 Instructions for University and Red River Tours

February 21st Red River Tour: All registered students meet at the guidance office promptly at 12:15pm. Check with Mr. Stargardter and leave for Notre Dame Campus. Bus instructions will be provided and you require your own bus fare or transportation. We will meet outside of the bookstore at Red River College for another check in.

February 22nd University of Winnipeg Tour: All registered students meet at the guidance office at 9:15 am for check in. Form there we will leave for the University and meet for another check in at the Duckworth Centre (directions will be provided.)   Your bus fare or transportation is required.

February 23rd University of Manitoba Tour: All registered students meet in the guidance office for check in at 9am sharp. Proceed to Church Street Doors and wait for the buses which should be there for 9:30am. We will return to the buses for 2pm pickup.

Grade 12 News

On October 20th there will be a University of Winnipeg  presentation at 1:30 in the theatre.

There will be a University Fair on November 4th from 9:30 to 11:30 in the Senior Gym.

On November 23rd there will be a TADD presentation in the theatre. Grade 11′s will attend at 1:30. Grade 12′s will attend at 2:30.
