StandOut!
STUDENTS
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN ATTENDING THE 2ND ANNUAL STANDOUT! GSA/DIVERSITY PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE?
WHEN: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH, 2012- 9:00AM-3:30 PM (lunch will be provided)
WHERE: CANAD INNS POLO PARK DESTINATION CENTRE – 1405 ST. MATTHEWS AVE
We are inviting teachers and students from high schools across Manitoba and North Western Ontario to join us for a day of learning, skills building, discussions, fun and networking! StandOUT! is an adult facilitated and peer-led leadership conference aimed at supporting youth in taking an active role in creating school environments free from discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender expression and gender identity.
We will be offering a wide range of powerful youth-focused workshops specifically related to GSA’s and LGBTTQQA* youth issues. Schools that do not have a GSA but have interested youth are welcome. The schedule will be packed with in-depth learning activities, personal and group growth opportunities, healthy discussions, and social activism.
If you are interested in attending please see Ms.Tummon, Mr. Anastasiadis or Mr. Fountaine in the GUIDANCE OFFICE to register online and choose your workshops. Five students can attend for free so these spots will be assigned on a first come first serve basis.

Ever wonder about being a paramedic? Interested in city planning and development? Could you see yourself working with animals? Finally, want to live out these careers in Winnipeg? Find out about these and MORE at The City of Winnipeg Career Symposium – October 16, 2012 from 12 – 7 p.m. at the Winnipeg Convention Centre 3rd floor, 375 York Avenue. Everyone is welcome to attend this FREE event.
The goal of the Career Symposium is to create awareness of the many different careers at the City of Winnipeg. There will be interactive displays and employees to answer questions about careers. There will also be information on how, where and when to apply for employment opportunities with the City of Winnipeg.
