The grade 4 to 6 classes are responsible for the winter concert this year. We will be presenting music through the decades to go with our 100 anniversary. The students in room 308 have started working very hard on their presentation.

The girls will need to wear a dress or skirt and plain top and the boys should wear black pants and a white shirt. Please let me know if you have any trouble finding the required clothing. Thanks

We had a very interesting discussion in class today about communities. Keeping in mind what we decided a community was and the examples we listed, I would like you to spend some time thinking about a community you belong to, there are probably many. Dicsuss this with your family and choose one community that is important to you. Before Wednesday next week, I would like you to reply to the post and simply state which community you have chosen. We will be working with these more on Thursday (Nov 27).

Some of the ideas we came up with in class were church, family, team, neighbourhood, group (learning, sports etc). Please be specific when you decide. For example name the team you are part of if that is what you choose.

This chapter was very exciting and we learned a lot about Shade’s character as well as many of the other bats. Some big decisions were made including that to save Shade’s life. The group for this chapter has chosen some key information from the chapter to share with you. Please look at their work and write a reflection on how you feel about the chapter, the characters, the novel so far or any personal experiences you are reminded of. This is a writing activity and you need to edit (spelling, grammar, upper case letters, periods etc.). This is due Thursday, November 20.

Conference times will go home this Friday.  Your conference will be either Thursday, November 20 (evening) or Friday, November 21 (all day).  Melissa will be available for the conferences Thursday evening and Friday morning.

I encourage the students to attend the conference with their parents.  I feel that as we are discussing their learning it would be beneficial for them to be there and take part in the conversation.

Just a reminder that room 308 will be closed November 28th all day.
