Please do the first question. The second is optional but great practice.
Remember what we discussed in class about finding the important information and knowing what is being asked.
1. Barney is a good salesman. He sold thousands of chocolate-covered mosscakes on his last sales trip. He sold 4 503 cases in Peoria, 5 304 cases in Abilene, 4 353 in Wilmington and 5 043 in Little Rock. Anytime he sells more than 4 500 cases in a city he gets a bonus of $1000. How much bonus money did he earn on his trip?
2. 5 000 glow-in-the-dark rings were sold at the first Boogaloo Banshee Band concert. Every time the band gave a concert, the total number of rings sold doubled. They gave four concerts on their summer tour. How many rings did they sell at the 4th concert?

Out of the 4 trips he got the bounus 3 times.
1,000+1,,000+1000=$3,000.
ansewer: $3,000.
1st = 5,000 rings
2nd= (5,000 x2)=10,000 rings
3rd = (10,000 x2)=20,000 rings
4th = (20,000 x2)=40,000 rings
They sold 40,000 rings at the 4th consert.
He gets 3000 bonus cash. I counted thousands it was EASY! He got a bonus for 3 cities.
Concert 1 =5000
concert 2 =5000 times 2 = 10000
concert 3 =10000 times 2 = 20000
concert 4 =20000 times 2 = 40000
The answer is 3000 dollars. I got the answer by looking at the numbers and cities.
Question 1
4503 in Peoria Good
5304 in Abilene Good
4353 in Wilmington Not Good
5043 in Little Rock Good
3 bonuses of $1000 = $3000
Question 2
First concert
5,000
Second concert
10,000
Third concert
20,000
Fourth concert
40,000
I got the anwser by writing it down then seeing which one’s were higher then 4 500.
Then I put 1000+ 1000+ 1000= 3000.
Have a nice week!
1. 4503=$1000, 5304=$1000, 4353=$0, 5043=$1000.
Barney earnd $3000 in bonus money.
2. concert #1. 5000, concert #2. 10000, concert #3 20000, concert #4 40000.
Question 1
If he sells more then 4,500 cases he gets $1,000 bonus
Peoria= 4,503 cases. $1,000 bonus
Abilene= 5,304 cases. $1,000 bonus
Wilmington= 4,353 cases. Less then 4,500. No bonus.
Little Rock= 5,043 cases. $1,000 bonus.
Barney got $3,000 in bonus money.
Question 2
Rings sold double every concert.
Concert 1 = 5,000
Concert 2 = 10,000
Concert 3 = 20,000
Concert 4 = 40,000
Concert 4 sold 40,000 rings.
Hi mme 1st quston was easyer then the othere ones the 2st quston very confusing but when i asked my mommy and nana they helped me. will this is how i got the 1st quston i wrot on a pize of paper and i wrot 4 503 , 5 304 4 353 and 5 043. So then i knew that if the numbre started with 5 it was a bonus and there were 2 like that so thats 2000 then i knew if it started some what like this 4 5(because you get a bonus if it has4 500 so the 00 can be any nubre undre 100 it works) so onley 1 out of 2 start with 4 5 .Then i did 1000 + 1000+ 1000=3000 so thhe answer is 3000.
Barney earned $3,000 bonus money on his trip.
banshee band concert on there 4th concert they sold 40,000 glow in the dark rings.
Barney got 4 bonus’s for his trip
4503=1 4500=1 5304=1 4353=1 5043=1
=4 bonus’s
#1.Barney got $3000 in bonus money because he sold 4500 cases in 3 different cities.
#2.The band sold 40,000 glowing rings because at the first concert they sold 5,000, 2-10,000, 3-20,000, 4-40,000.
There are 3 citys where he sold more than 4 500 cases.3×1000=3000.
He earned $3000.
I looked at the question over and over again. Then I added up the bonus money,and… the answer is $3000!!☺☻☺☻
4503=1000
5304=1000
5043=1000
He earned 3000 bonus money.
1=5000
2= 5000+5000=10000
3= 10000+10000=20000
4= 20000+20000=40000
the 4th concert sold 40000 glow-in-the-dark rings.
4 503 plus grand que 4 500, bonus.
5 304 plus grand que 4 500, bonus.
4 353 plus petit que 4 500, pas de bonus.
5 043 plus grand que 4 500, bonus.
3 bonus = $3 000.
He got 3000 bonus money I found out by looking at all of the numbers.bye bye.
I found out witch citys sales were larger then the bonus number.
I was doubling number of glow rings from the first concert
concert sales
1 5000
2 10000
3 20000
4 40000
Hi Mme I thought these 2 questions were ok. I wrote down the numbers for the first question. I wrote 4 503 witch gives a bonus, 5 304 you got a bonus,4 353 witch you don’t get a bonus for and 5 043 and you get a bonus for. So you got 3 bonuses. So Barney got $3000.For the 2 question the anwser is 40000 because for the first concert hthe band got $5000 2 concertthe band got $10000 3 concert the band got $20000 on the 4 concert the band got $40000
so the answer is $40000
4503 >4500= 1000
5304 > 4500= 1000
4353 4500 =1000
1000+1000+1000=3000
You did a great job showing the addition you did. When we write numbers in the thousands we leave a space rather than a comma, for example instead of writing 1,000 we write
1 000. Bravo.
I can clearly see how you found your answer. Can you explain why you chose to multiply by 2? Well done.
He did get a bonus for three cities and you explained nicely how you found the $3 000. Great work. I’m glad it was easy, how did you know it was three cities in which he received a bonus?
What a great job of showing your answer, why did you choose to multiply by 2 each time?
You’re right! What did you see when you looked at the numbers and cities? How did they help you to find the answer?
Your answers are both right. Can you explain to me how you found them? Use a few sentences to explain each. Instead of using a comma after the thousands just leave a space (for example 10 000). Well done.
I can easily understand how you found the answers, your descriptions are very clear. Did you find this question easy or difficult?
Thank you for sharing your answers. In question 1 I can easily see how you found the answer. Can you write a few sentences to explain how you found the answer for question 2? Bravo!
Both your answers are very clear and easy to see how you found the answers. When you write numbers in the thousands, rather than writing a comma we now leave a space after the thousands (for example 40 000 instead of 40,000). Did you find these questions to be easy or difficult?
You wrote a very detailed description that clearly stated how you found the answer. That is a great strategy you used by looking at the numbers and deciding which ones were over 4 500. You mentioned you found the 2nd question confusing but got some help, did you finish that one as well?
You’re right, he did earn $3 000 (leave a space rather than a comma after the thousands). Can you write a few sentences to explain how you found that answer?
You found the right answer but I am not sure how you got it. Can you explain it? Remember to read your sentences and edit them (upper case letters).
Bravo
I see how you found your answers, I notice though you gave him an extra bonus. Can you see where that is and why he should not have received it? How much money in bonus money did he get?
Your explanations are very clear and your answers are both right. Well done. When you write numbers in the thousands make sure you leave a space instead of a comma (for example 40 000 instead of 40,000).
You showed that you found the answer by using multiplication, that is a good strategy. Did you find this question easy or difficult?
The answer is $3 000. How did looking at the question several times help you? What did you see, can you explain it in a few sentences?
Your descriptions are great and I can easily see how you found the answers. What do you need to include before your number to show money? Make sure to leave a space after your thousands when you are writing numbers
(40 000). Bravo
Bravo, j’aime comment tu as montrer le travail que tu as fait et le francais.
Did you find the question easy or difficult?
You did a great job doubling. Make sure to leave a space after the thousands in your numbers (5 000, 10 000 etc). Was it difficult to double all the numbers?
Thank you for explaining how you found the answer. Can you look up how to write the plural of city?
Thank you for such detailed answers. Did you find it difficult doubling the numbers in the second question?
You did a very good job of sharing your answer. Can you use a sentence or two to explain the symbol > that you used? Bravo
I thought in French you left a space and in English you needed to use a comma.
Because it’s easier and the sales doubled which means to times by 2.
Barney sold 4503 in peoria, 5304 in Abilene and 5043 in Little Rock . Those numbers are over 4500. $1000+$1000+$1000=$3000 . Barney earned $3000 in Bonus money .
2. They sold 5000 at the first concert. They sold 5000+5000=10000 at the second concert. They sold 10000+10000=20000 at the third concert. They sold 20000+20000=40000 rings at the fourth concert.
In English we used to use commas, you’re right, but now it has changed so we leave a space instead.
1. Every time the salesman sold more than 4500 he got a bonus. Three times he sold more than 4500 so he got 3 $1000 bonuses.
2. The band sold 5 000 rings inthe first consert, and doubled the sales each consert after that. 5 000 x 2 is 10 000. 10 000 x 2 is 20 000. 20 000 x 2 is 40 000.
I knew that it was three cities because each time he sold more than 4 500 he got a bonus.
Because doubling means times 2.
Here ia how I got my answer.
4 503 Peoria earned 1 000 Bonus
5 304 Abilene earned 1 000 Bonus
4 353 Wilmington No Bonus
5 043 Little Rock 1000 Bonus
Barney earned 3 000 dollars because he sold over 4 500 chocolate covered mosscakes 3 times on his trip.
1. 5 000
2. 10 000
3. 20 000
4. 40 000
The boogaloo banshee concert gave out 5 000 on there first concert.Every other concert that they gave they doubled the amount of glow and the dark rings they sold.
By the last concert they sold 40 000.
Thank you!
Thanks for explaining!
Thanks
Those are great descriptions, thanks!
Merci!
That is a good description of how you found the answer, thank you.
Barney got 3000 dollars for bonus money.
4503 is more than 4500, 5304 is more, 4353 is less and 5043 is more. So that adds up to 3000 bonus money.
Hi mme I think that the second question was a bit hard to double.
yes i did finish that question but it did take me a little longer then the frist question.
I found it easy not difficult.
I found it easy.
I found the question easy.
I found the answer by doubleing the number each time.
EX. 500 doubled=1000 1000 doubled=2000 2000 doubled=4000.
4503 >4500 means that 4503 is greater then
4500.
I looked at the question and I counted how many times he sold over 4500 cases. He sold that many three times. Then I added up 1000 and 1000 and 1000 to get the answer 3000.
