End of the Year
Filed Under News | 38 Comments
The last day of school is coming quickly. Today I would like you to leave a comment about your favourite experience of this school year. I would also like you to reflect on your learning for the year. Write about what you liked or didn’t like, what you learned and how you feel you progressed as a learner. You should have one or two paragraphs. Don’t forget to edit!

We have been watching the Peregrine Falcons in Winnipeg and have been generating lots of thick questions. We don’t have all the answers to these questions so we have decided to write them down and see if we can start to find the answers.
Thursday evening post your question on the blog. Anytime on Friday or after please feel free to answer your question or a question another student asked. To answer the question leave a comment or reply to the comment where the question was written, so we can keep the questions and answers together. Keep checking the blog for the answers and don’t forget to contact community resources to help you.
Have fun watching the falcons!

100th Anniversary Reflection
Filed Under Homework | 21 Comments
As you know, yesterday was our 100th anniversary celebration. There were many activities and you were involved in most of them. Your inquiry projects all turned out great and it was neat to see them set up in the hall with all the other classes. The Fast Facts kept people guessing and hoping they knew the answers. I would like you to write a paragraph or two about how you feel about everything that went on, now that it is over. Talk about your inquiry project and what it was like to participate in such a large event that only happens every hundred years.

100th Anniversary
Filed Under News | Leave a Comment
Our 100th anniversary celebration is coming up next and all the students in grades 3 and 4 have been demonstrating just how well they can work as part of a group. We will likely spend some time each day until next Wednesday working on finishing our projects. Students are encouraged to bring any supplies they need from home and communicate difficulties with their teachers. I hope you can all join us next Thursday, not only to see the great projects but to also watch our dances through the decades.

Germs!!
Filed Under Homework | 16 Comments
Today a scientist named Jamie came to show us the benefits of washing our hands with soap and water. We conducted two experiments which allowed us to see that just washing quickly with water is not enough. We also talked about when we should wash our hands and where we find germs.
Comment on this post and explain a bit about what we did for the experiment, what the results were and what you learned. You have already written a paragraph in French so this can just be a short summary of what you wrote.

Tadpoles – Week 2 by RV010 and RV008
Filed Under Tadpoles | 14 Comments
Our tadpoles have legs growing. The tadpoles’ legs are red on the bottom and green on the top. They don’t have teeth and they like to go and hide under rocks. You can’t see their eyes, they have tails when they’re tadpoles and when they’re frogs, the tail goes away. There are lots of different colours of tadpoles and frogs, but our tadpoles are a mouldy green with brown splotches and they will be the same when they grow into frogs.

Fascinating Frog Facts
Filed Under Tadpoles | 19 Comments
Today I would like you to find an interesting fact about tadpoles or frogs. Share your fact by leaving it as a comment on this post. Maybe you can find one tadpole fact first and then move to a frog fact. Can you identify what species of frog our tadpoles will become? Write your response as a paragraph in Word first and then copy and paste it into the blog.

Tadpoles – Week 1 by RV005 and RV014
Filed Under Tadpoles | 16 Comments
These are our tadpoles, we just got them after spring break. We know one of them has legs for sure,we don’t know about the others because they don’t really move, but we’ve looked at the tadpoles a lot and see that all of them probaly have legs. One of them likes the rocks. Les têtards sont verts foncé. Les têtards aiment bouger leurs bouches. Les têtards aiment nager mais souvent ils ne bougent pas! We would really like to see them turn into frogs! Mme says that they will not be bright green because they live in a lake and it is dark and swampy in that lake and there are thousands of species and they all look different. We hope they live for a week then we can name them. We would like to name them Freddy, Googles and Rosie.

Welcome Back
Filed Under News | 3 Comments
It is hard to believe we only have three months of this school year left, it has gone by very quickly. I have updated the month at a glance page and we will soon have several student posts on the blog. We have adopted three tadpoles from a lake in Ontario. We are hoping to raise these tadpoles until they become frogs and then I will return them to their lake. The students will be updating us on the progress of the tadpoles weekly.
We will be starting home reading again tonight along with a French comprehension activity Thursday. The multiplication quiz will also be Thursday this week due to Friday being a holiday.

French Comprehension
Filed Under Homework, News | Leave a Comment
Just a reminder that the French comprehension sheets are due each Wednesday. The students are to choose a Tumblebook in French or watch a French cartoon or tv program and complete a reflection sheet. I have changed the activity slightly this week to hopefully give the students a better opportunity to express the story in their own words and to share their thoughts.
