Creating a PODCAST – assignment

February 16th, 2009 by lgentes

Select one photograph from the gallery of images from the 1930’s and create a post.

The podcast you create should contain:

  • At least one paragraph, read by you, which discusses your selection of photograph.
    • Points to ponder:
      • What in the photograph captured your interest?
      • What feelings did the photograph bring out, or make you feel?
      • What is the oral history of the individual(s) in the picture?
  • Sound and background music
Extension:

  • Compare today’s economic situation to the series of events which led to the social and economic plight of so many in the 1930’s.
  • Collect current sound bytes which communicate today’s social and economic situation.

March 20th PM More Podcasting!

March 13th, 2008 by lgentes

Participants in the March 13th workshop will be coming back to continue working on their podcasts.  We worked through Plan and Question and each participant arrived at a topic for their podcast and developed a plan of what it might sound like and the components that they might include.  We began Gathering and Making Sense but found more time was needed.  We took a quick look at Audacity but will spend time on March 20th recording the podcasts and learning how to upload them to a blog.

Podcasting is a method of communication allowing anyone to create audio files and post them to the Internet for others to download and listen to at any time. These audio files can be downloaded to a personal computer or handheld device such as an iPod.

Podcasting is a medium for students to produce talk shows on multiple subjects. They can be used to “Produce to Show Understanding” of their Inquiry topics. Podcasts are easy and inexpensive to produce using equipment that is readily available in your school.
