Field Trip Fun at the Farm
The nursery pm class had a ton of fun on their first field trip of the year at Six Pines Farm! Despite the fact that the day turned out to be much wetter then expected, the nursery class enjoyed getting to meet and learn about the different animals. We got to see sheep, goats, ducks, llamas and much more! The students even got a chance to take a short ride on a horse … what brave kids!
Fun in the Sun!
The nursery pm students have been patiently waiting for Spring to arrive! They had a special guest Mr. Jamie come to the room and tell them stories about Spring and they brainstormed and created art work about Spring. What do you see in Spring? What do you hear in Spring? What do you smell in Spring? The sun finally appeared this week and the students were so excited to get outside for a little while and enjoy it! Check out our pictures of some of the students playing in our playground!
Castles, Princesses and Dragons!
The nursery pm class has been having fun this past week exploring with castles, princesses and dragons! The class has read stories together such as The Paperbag Princess, George and the Dragon and In The Castle. During center time the students get to play with a pop-up castle and pretend that they are princes and princesses. Check out the students having fun with the castle in our pictures…
Letter of the Day!
The nursery PM class has begun their Letter of the Day study in the month of March. The Letter of the Day gets incorporated into all aspects of the afternoon. At carpet time we do an alphabet chant, we practice letter formation, we brainstorm words that start with that letter, and we create a Silly Soup Bowl using the words we brainstormed. During centers there are various alphabet activties or letter specific activties that take place. Check out our pictures of what they’ve done so far with the letters A, B and C!
Book Buddies!
To start off the month of February (‘I love to read’ month) Room 7 and Room 2pm started their book buddy reading! Room 2 got to go on an adventure down to Room 7. Once they got there, Room 7 had their book bags ready, they found their partners and the students in Room 7 read to their buddy! Both classes did a great job being readers and listeners! Take a look at all of the kids in action…
Mittens in January
The Nursery PM students have been doing all kinds of fun things with mittens this month! We started off by reading the story “The Mitten” by Jan Brett. The students then went through the process of creating their own mittens…. We colored and cut one mitt, we colored and cut another mitt, we sewed the two mitts together, and then we colored and cut out pictures of the animals from the story. The students were then able to use their mitten and their cut out animals to re-enact the story while Ms. Thomas read it at carpet time. The class had a lot of fun with this!
The Nursery PM class also used mittens to create their name…. they had to count the number of letters in their name, and find a paper that had the same number of mittens on it! Next the students had to print their name (one letter in each mitten) and color the mittens! Didn’t they do a great job!
Some of the kids in the class showed Ms. Thomas how much they are learning by using mittens to create patterns! They were able to create ABB patterns and AABB patterns!
Fun in the Computer Lab
The Nursery PM kids started off the new year with some fun in the computer lab.
They had the chance to create fun and silly pictures on the Tux Paint game. Some of the
