This lesson is designed to help Grade 10 Science students understand information about how air masses have different pressure and the main air masses that affect weather in North America. The understanding of air masses is crucial before attacking the SLOs related to severe weather events (S2-4-04 Explain the formation and dynamics of selected severe weather phenomena and S2-4-05 Collect, interpret, and analyze meteorological data related to a severe weather event).

I am new to using SmartBoard technology. I am looking for a high school activity for a Reading Part 3 course that is interactive. I realize that it is difficult to engage many learners especially boys and I liked the North American Air Masses activity. I will use it in my course to demonstrate how SmartBoard technology works and how we can engage our students. Thank you. I wonder if there could be one or two interactive activities prior to this one?

I’m glad you liked it. I don’t have another SMART interactive activity prior to this one for the weather unit, since the air masses are the basis for how I teach the unit. I do have some other interactivities that have not been adapted for the board yet, but could be very easily.
