TGIO We made a Movie!

Hi Mom! Hi Dad!

Today in our reading group we made a movie of all the words we could spell. Mrs. Devlin took pictures of our words and then put them into photostory 3. After that Mrs. Devlin and Miss Shrumm helped us read the words. We sure know a lot of words!

Thanks for voting!

Hi everyone!

We tallied the votes. Twenty people voted in our survey. Eighteen people said the groundhog would see his shadow. Two people said he would not see his shadow. Mrs. Devlin forgot to vote. Oops! We checked Oak Hammock Marsh and Manitoba Merv predicted that spring is on its way! He did not see his shadow! You can check out his picture on the Oak Hammock Marsh Website!  www.oakhammockmarsh.ca Thanks for voting!

How Big is a Dinosaurs Foot Print?

Today we measured the area of a dinosaurs foot print! We practiced careful measuring! It was so much fun! We discovered it was easier to count in sets of ten. We packed the digi blocks to figure out how many we used! Have a great weekend!

Fabuki Daiko Came to Harrow School!

On Friday Fabuki Daiko performed in our gym. We loved it! You could feel the music inside you. Our tummies shook, our chest shook and our whole bodies boomed! The music was fast and slow. A clown came out and made balloon animals. It was really funny when he popped the balloon and then gave it to the teacher! We learned a lot about Takio drumming. The name Fabuki means blizzard and Daiko means drum.

Information About Our Calendar!

Dear Families,

The calendar on our blog has been having some technical difficulties for a while. Our division is working hard to solve the problem. I have not been able to update or make changes to the calendar. I have removed it from the blog because it is no longer accurate. I will do my best to keep you posted on events through our daily TIGO messages. As soon as a new calendar becomes available I will create a new one to keep you up to date on the events in our classroom. Be sure to keep the calendar that comes home in the monthly newsletters!  The next newsletter will be sent home on February 1st!

Thanks for all your support!

TIGO We made Fabuki Diako Paintings!

Dear Families,

Today we had a lot of fun creating paintings of our Fabuki Daiko Experience! On Friday Fabuki Daiko came to our school and performed for us! We loved it! We started by making drawings of what we saw. On Monday we created a word splash of all of our feelings and ideas. Today we created lines to show what the words might look like if they were a line. After that we listened to Fabuki Daiko’s music! When we had our ideas we created lines with black paint. We thought about what the music might look like if we could see it floating through the air. Once we knew what it looked like in our minds we created the colours we saw when our eyes were closed. Some of us picked two primary colours, some of us used a rainbow of colours, and some of us used one colour and created different tints and shades to fill in our paintings. They look amazing! Can you guess which one is mine? Tomorrow Miss Shrumm will be here and we are going to create wordle to match our beautiful art!

Love,

Grade 1
