 - Peer Pressure

I thought that the movie taught about peer pressure and how people can give into it so easily, like for example changing the way you dress, or to be initiated in a certain gang, and your overall way of thinking how the world is in your aspect. In the beginning of the movie, you could tell that people go to drastic measures just to be a part of a certain gang of popular kids, so you can tell that the boy was desperate just so he can get some social status and not look back at high school saying “I was a loser back then, and I still think I am now because I didn’t do what the popular kids asked me to do.” So now, the boy ends up in the hospital for what he did. So now I personally think that it could have been the right decision if he had just put a little thought into what the boy was doing, and also, the boy should have thought about the people he was going to hang out with.

This movie has got me thinking about many things. But the most important idea that this movie taught me is that to be careful and be aware with the people you’re with. (ex. Hanging out..) There’s a lot of peer pressure, especially when you’re in your teen years. Maybe there are things that are ‘classified’ as being ‘cool’, so, most people/youth will try and follow that path.

Even though you’re not aware of how you really are or who you are, just maybe there’ll be that one person who will get/find the best in you. Sometimes, the friends you hang out with at the moment won’t be doing you any good, and instead, holding you back from your full potential. Like in this movie, Landon and his group of friends, made a bad choice in playing a trick on one of their peers. They said it was some sort of initiation for him to be included in the group. In consequence, this teenager wound up in the hospital because of the want in being including, made him do something stupid. (jumping in shallow water from a  high point).

And as I’ve already said, at least once in everyone’s life, you’ll find that one person who will open up your eyes. When saying this , I mean that ‘special’ one that everyone will find and truly love with all their heart. In this case, Landon found Jamie. With his usual ‘friends’ who constantly bugged her and made fun of her, (mostly on how she dressed) he persued her. There were some of his friends who didn’t accept her, and had to leave and ‘forget’. I’m not trying to say that leaving everything (all your friends) just for one girl (or boy) will be worth it. I just think that if those people are a bad influence to you, the best thing to do might be to let go. There are some cases where it can be your turn to be that person who will make an impact in their life.

In conclusion, I’d like to say that we should all be aware and thankful for those people. To have friends and be popular, might not always have a smile on your face in the end. Making good choices and choosing the right people to be with will make you live life in a better way.

A Walk to Remember

As I watched the movie, the key idea I saw a lot was love. Jamie and Carter showed and fell in love and their love triumphed through everything. (Including the death of Jamie.) It was very obvious that something was going on in Carter’s mind when he saw her beauty and voice. The sparks eventually grew into something bigger while singing the song, “Only Hope. This love even helped their own families reconcile with their own son / daughter. (Example: Carter and his dad)

Relating, I don’t relate to this kind of feeling. Yes, you might say, “What about the love your loved ones give you?” This is a different kind of love that isn’t the kind of parental love that is given to everyone. When I watched the changes Carter phased before and after he met Jamie it surprised me. He was once really a silent kid who wouldn’t even bother trying to talk to someone. Their affection for one and another helped each other make the best of what they have. (Especially for Jamie who had Leukemeia.) Isn’t it very devasting telling someone you just knew that you have Leukimeia? It is so for Jamie. As I said, their love conquered that in the end, they got married. They spent their last summer together and eventually, Jamie left.

In conclusion, this movie is really enchanting and that, it showed that it isn’t always a ‘happily ever after.’ I liked this movie a lot from the differences between movies that sometimes wouldn’t really flow right like this one.

A Walk to Remember

Ex, it doesn’t matter what the person looks like as long as you like them for who they are. Also if someone you like is being picked on you shouldn’t just sit there and watch you should help the person. Don’t give into peer presure. If you love someone so much you would do anythign for them. If you love something / someone set it free. Don’t give up on someone even if there sick. Last but not least love is like the wind you can feel it but you can’t see it.  All these ex. Are from the movie and I think that they go great to what I learned.

I think that the main idea was it doesn’t matter what the person looks like as long as you love them for being themselves. Like Landin fell in love with the girl on the inside and not whats on the outside. Because everybody thought she was a nerd and they didn’t want to be around her. So he set her looks aside and fell in love with the real her. And also like Jamie said ” Love is like the wind you can feel it but you cant see it.” And that she knew that she was sick and didn’t tell him because she didn’t want to hurt him. But it seems to be that Landin helped Jamie to survive. Jamie said that “Landin was her Angel from above “.  And also he helped her with life and achive her amitions. He loved her no matter what people said about her / them.

Now back to the thing with the wind. You can feel love with actions and everything but you cant see it. The only way you can is by actions but that’s not really love. Also Landin has a quote that goes good with him is that ” If you love someone / something set it free. ” And that’s what Landin did with Jamie.

Peer pressure can make people do crazy stuff like in the movie,  that guy jumped into shallow water just to fit in with the “cool kids”.  Also,  when the “cool kids” made fun of Jamie and made a mean flyer of her.  Then the other kids laughed at Jamie too because they were peer pressured into it.  Finally,  Landen stood up for Jamie which stopped the peer pressure which worked for him because he was respected and a “cool kid”.  I think we shouldn’t peer pressure anyone because they can get really hurt.
