A group of students in grade 4 are reading a brochure titled “What Does Your Dog Know?” This brochure tells you how to test your dog to find out how smart they really are. They will be testing a friend’s dog to find out how much the dog knows.
They have made a podcast which tells you how to get ready to test your dog. Please listen. We will post our results after we complete the testing.
Today some grade 4 students had a discussion about the three R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle. They all agreed that we need to do our part to reduce the amount of waste that we generate, reuse items more than once and to recycle things instead of putting them in the garbage.
What ideas do you have for ways to reduce, reuse or recycle?
The grade 4 class is doing a Book Club unit on the theme of Music. As part of this unit, students read an interview of singer-songwriter Connie Kaldor. In this article she talks about the steps she takes when writing a song. After reading this interview and finding out how easy it is to write a song, two small groups of students wrote new verses to the classic song “Down By The Bay”. Listen to the new verses they created!
