Winter Camp Equipment List

Head:

_ Toque (2 would be best to allow one to dry while the other is in use)

_Scarf or neck warmer

Upper Body: Lots o’ Layers

_Long undershirts (long sleeve t-shirt would suffice)

_Sweaters or turtlenecks or hoodies

_Winter Parka with Hood OR _Spring wind breaker (if the weather is warmer – in lieu of parka as an outer layer)

Hands:

_Mitts, mitts, and more mitts (Preferably with a water proof shell)

Lower Body:

_Underwear

_Long Underwear

_Fleece, sweats, or an alternative warm layer

_Wind Pants OR _ Overpants – insulated, synthetic fill ski pants

Feet:

_Heavy socks – 4+ pairs

_Regular socks (to wear indoors)

_Winter Boots (not UGGS, but something waterproof)

Pack & Packing:

_Large backpack or duffle bag (students must be able to carry it on their own)

Sleeping Gear:

_Sleeping Bag (Preferable) OR _Comfortable

-Pillow

Miscellaneous:

_Day Pack for carrying extra clothing, water, lunch, camera, _Flashlight (headlamp if you have one) _Extra classes, sunglasses, glasses strap, _Sunscreen, _Toilet Articles –towel, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, _Any medications needed during trip, _Camera, books, games, paper & pen, etc.

Flex Social Studies Global Issues Choice Project

Social Studies – Choice Project

Global Issues!!!

PowerPoint Presentation options:

  1. Natural Disasters. Research recent natural disasters in different parts of the world. Compare third world disasters with first world disasters.
  2. Sustainable Technology. Research a new technology that will help the environment in the long term. Compare new to old technologies. Examples: Wind farms, solar power, electric cars.
  3. Global Food Issues. Research why there are global food shortages and why it is a crisis. Compare crises in poor countries with rich ones.
  4. Research your (family’s) country of origin. Tell me not only about your country’s culture but also the story of how you or your ancestors came here.

Design a presentation. 15-20 Slides. Not including Title page or bibliography.

Examples: Women, sweatshop workers, children slaves, African Americans, Aboriginals, Jewish people, certain religions, Japanese Canadians, Prisoners, homosexuals, etc.
