Halloween Party Monday

Dear Parents,
We are having a Halloween party Monday morning. Students will be watching movies, playing video games, and snacking in the a.m., then attending the Halloween dance in the afternoon. The tickets for the dance are $2.00, and will be sold in the morning (proceeds go toward the Grad Committee). If students don’t want to attend the dance, there will be other options (Gym time, movie, etc.) Some students have volunteered to bring in their video game systems to get set up in the classroom for the duration of the morning. Tanis and I can’t guarantee that they won’t be damaged, but we can guarantee that we will be present in the rooms, and that the systems are respected. If you or your child wants to bring in snacks, that is fine, but we have both dairy and peanut allergies in our class, so your choices are limited. Here is a list of acceptable snacks (to my knowledge):
chips:
ruffles – all dressed, plain
lays – barbeque, plain

cookies:
oreos (mr.Christie)

fruit and veggies – no dip

twizzlers -licorice, nibs

other candy:
- fuzzy peaches, swedish berries, sour patch kids

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me.

Thanks,

Dave

More Corn Maze Information

Hey all,

Just a reminder that the outing to the corn maze is this Wednesday. Tanis and I sent home a permission form today. Please have your child bring it back to us tomorrow. If it didn’t make it home today, or if your child had a volleyball game and wasn’t here to get the form, you can either download it (I’ve attached the file) or you can simply hand-write a note saying they have permission to go.

We also discussed the itenary. It will be a fairly relaxed and informal day. We will be leaving the school around 9:45am to get out there by 10:15 or so. At 10:30 we will be greeted by a worker who will outline the day. Aside from the corn maze (which works kind of like a scavenger hunt, with students working in groups to find all the items they need in the maze without getting lost), the facility also has archery, a petting zoo, a hayride, and a fire pit. We’ll have lunch around the fire pit at noon(ish). Please remember to have students pack a lunch and bring water.

One more thing: A parent has brought it to my attention that Saturday’s Free Press had coupons for a dollar off the corn maze in it. If anyone has the weekend edition still, it might be worthwhile to have your child bring the coupon along, although I’m not 100 percent sure they will allow it (I’ve called them and left a message asking about it but haven’t heard a reply).

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me.

Thanks,

Dave

More Corn Maze Info:

Dear Parents,

So far we have seven parents who have volunteered to drive to the corn maze on October 26th. We still need a couple more to make this field trip happen. We also need to know how many people you can take if you volunteer/have volunteered (Some parents have already provided this information, so ignore that last statement if you have).

Some extra information about the trip that will hopefully address some of your questions:

- Admission is free for adults if you decide to stay at the maze. If you choose to not stay, just let us know ahead of time.

- Cost will be $8.00 per student.

- There is a concession stand there, but we are asking students to bring lunch, snacks, and drinks for themselves.

- We will leave the school around 9:30am and will be at the corn maze until about 1:45pm. We will likely arrive back at school around 2:30pm. Students who have permission to leave early will be able to do so, but Tanis and I will be at the school until 3:30pm if they need to stay.

- A Maze In Corn is located at 1351 PR 200, St Adolphe, MB R5A 1A2. It’s about 25 minutes from the school. Here’s the link to Google Maps:

Feel free to email any other comments, questions, or concerns to Tanis or I.

Thanks,
Dave

Dear Parents,

We will be going to “A Maze in Corn” on October 26th. Drivers needed! We’ve already had a few volunteers but we need four or five more vehicles to make this outing possible. Please email Tanis or I if you’re interested.

Thanks,
