Dear Parents,
We’re starting to ramp up our efforts on the courtyard greenspace project. Tanis and I have instructed your children to tell you about this exciting undertaking and to ask you for any of the following…
Your time, gardening tools (shovels, digging tools, auger, etc.), work gloves, seeds, watering cans, pots, hoses, nozzles, gravel, rocks, stones, bricks, scrap wood, lattice, wheelbarrows, sun hats, saws, etc., etc.
If you have any of this, please let us know.
Thanks,
Dave
Dear Parents,
Just a quick update to let you know of what’s going on in the land of Flex…
1. The Courtyard Project – As you all are probably aware of by now, we have been gifted the revamping of the school’s courtyard. We have grant money coming to us to create a sustainable greenspace, and we’re extremely excited about the possibilities! If any of you have a green thumb, or are willing to lend a hand or donate supplies over the next two months, please let us know. Any of the following supplies would be appreciated: bricks, lumber, stones, soil, compost, rain barrels, garden tools, gloves, etc.
2. Community Cleanup – Last period on Friday (April 16), all middle years students will be participating in a community cleanup. All necessary supplies and equipment will be provided.
3. Report cards go home next Friday (April 23). However, marks are due by this Friday, so there’s a plethora of tests and assignments due. There are unit tests in Math for Grade 8s tomorrow (Wednesday) and Grade 7s on Thursday. There are three Social Studies assignments that need to be in by Friday, and a couple of students have not handed in ANY!!
4. Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on April 29. We’ll send home schedules shortly after report cards.
5. We are all enjoying this wonderful Spring!!!
Thanks,
Dave and Tanis
Grade 7 students must have their Order of Operations booklets done up to the end of page 240.
Hey all…
Hope you had a great break…time sure slowed down nicely over the last week…
A few things to mention:
- We are lacking school supplies for some of the students.
- We are beginning new blocks in Science and Social. Science will have two areas of focus: Education for Sustainable Development and Properties of Matter. We will be working in and out of the classroom for the remainder of the year.
- Volunteer week is fast approaching for the grade 8s…paperwork will be coming home shortly.
- Soccer season begins at the end of the month. Dave and I are coaching the grade 7 and 8 girls. Stay tuned for practice schedule and try-out times.
- Grade 7s will complete their pay it forward projects on their own as we begin a differentiated unit in English.
- Grade 8s begin English Division Exam prep through a variety of lessons.
- You should be seeing an increased amount of homework over the next little while.
- We have one volunteer (give it up for Jeff C.) for the upcoming flex camp. Forgive me in advance for e-mailing you non-stop, seeking others to join us either as a driver out to camp or back, or as a camper.
Here’s to a good few remaining months,
Tanis and Dave
