Grade 8 Spring Camp – Important Info!!!

Dear Parents,

Okay, so Tanis and I are killing ourselves planning the Grade 8 end-of-year camping trip.  We absolutely need to know how many kids are coming so we can plan accordingly. Most students say they are coming, but many are “not sure.” The more students that come, the more inexpensive the trip will be. We need at least 16 to keep the trip under $70.00 (to cover the cost of two lifeguards, gas for volunteers, substitute teacher, and site rental). Please ensure you have a discussion with your son/daughter whether or not he/she will come tonight so we can have a class meeting about camp tomorrow morning.

Thanks,

Dave

Flex Update, May 11th, 2009

Hello everyone! Just a quick reminder that we need all supplies in by tomorrow for any and all Middle Ages projects. Please ask your child if he/she has everything he/she needs.

Grade 8s:

The 8s have a whole bunch of work on the go right now. I’ve just issued review booklets that they can start working through. I’m recommending they complete a page a night starting next week (9 pages in total). Also starting in two weeks, I’ll be sending home practice exams for homework. This week they’ll be working on Algebra and we should be finishing up probability by the week of May 25th. The Grade 8s also need to complete their volunteer projects for English and have their short stories in by tomorrow morning at the latest.

Grade 7s:

The 7s are part-way through a unit on Order of Operations in Math. Following that unit will be a unit on Probability and, if we have time, ratio and rate. Expect homework in Math regularly over the next two to three weeks. They have started a novel study on the book “Holes” in English.

That’s all for now. Please email myself or Tanis if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Dave
