  • Teassa:

What kind of composting systems are in use in the classroom right now?

  • Danielle. B:

There are 3 composting systems that are in our classrom right now. They include vermicomposting, ecosystem composting and electric composting systems.

  • Anonymous:

    What is vermicomposting?

  • Anonymous:

    Vermicomposting is composting using worms.

  • Norman:

How much power can the wind turbine generate? How much power can the solar panel generate? How much power is generated by both these power sources combined?

  • Anonymous:

Argyle’s wind turbine/solar panel is a 300 watt system and is used to power a low energy light system which grows plants.

  • Christine (Elmwood High):

At our school, our wind turbine makes a whistling noise while its running. Does yours?

  • Lexie (elmwood high):

All together how many different environmental items/objects does Argyle have?

  • Stephanie (From Elmwood High School):

How did you build your indoor ecosystem?

  • tiffany: (elmwood high school):

Why is Argyle so interested in an eco friendly environment, and using as little waste products as “you” can? (or to reuse “your” waste in a constructive way?)

  • pp:

How long did the wind turbine take to put up?

  • Maggie:

How did you start your composting?

  • Abner from Elmwood:

How long did it take to build your indoor ecosystem?

  • Jen Jen from Elmwood:

My question is, what was the inspiration for your wind turbine and solar panel? How much did they cost and who started the project. Would you recommend a solar panel to other schools like Elmwood?

  • justin: Elmwood:

I really like your website. It is very informative, I also thought that the trip to argyle was ok. THANKS

  • Elmwood Student:

How come you guys have the sculpture?.. does it represent anything?.

  • Argyle:

We started with vermi composting. We wanted to compost organic waste in our school.

  • Argyle:

We purchased our ecosystem from a supplier in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

  • Argyle:

The sculpture is titled “4 + Seven”, and represents the four elements (air, water, earth, and fire) and the seven teachings of the aboriginal culture.

  • Argyle:

Yes, our wind turbine does make a whistling noise — especially on windy days.
