Assessment for Learning - Videos

Assessment for Learning (AfL) is the process by which evidence and feedback are used to identify where students are in their learning, what they need to do next, and how best to achieve this goal.  In practice, this means obtaining clear evidence regarding how to support individual achievement, an agreement between teachers and pupils on what they need to improve and an understanding on the steps needed to promote learning and growth.

The Big Ideas of AFL
Learners learn best when:

• they understand clearly what they are trying to learn, and what is expected of them;
• they are given feedback about the quality of their work and what they can do to make it better;
• they are given advice about how to go about making improvements, and
• they are fully involved in deciding what needs to be done next, and who can give them help if they need it.
